Financial Center (Bank) Holidays (For All Financial Centers)
Financial center (bank) holidays are defined as public holidays when retail banks (and usually government offices and businesses) in a specific center are closed. This does not necessarily affect settlement of payments and/or monetary instruments. Central banks, clearing systems and commercial banks may remain open (as is often the case within the Euro Zone).
Currency/FX Market Holidays
Currency/FX market holidays are defined as days when the foreign exchange market for specified currency is closed. No fixing rate is published. Generally, central bank and/or large-value payment systems are closed for interbank settlements.
Exchange Holidays (Trading and Settlement)
Exchange trading holidays are defined as days when an exchange (e.g., Euronext, NYSE, LSE) is closed and trading is not possible. Settlement prices are not published. Available for over 500 exchanges/markets.
Exchange settlement holidays are defined as days when an exchange based trade cannot be settled because the banks are closed, the clearing agency is closed, the exchange is closed or some combination of the above.
